Anchoring into the Heart

Searching For Truth: A Blog by Sherri Smith

The image above is taken in Bali and one of many sculptures or deities (divine status, quality or nature) that are ever present. Every culture has mythological gods carved and displayed within their country and it has been mistaken in my opinion for something that is outside of or greater than us. I have come to understand the presence of these statues as a reminder to look within, the qualities, parables and powers they represent are within us to be discovered.

This particular statue to me represents the polarity of emotions in depression and ecstatic joy. Neither are sustainable or healthy. The teeth are an anchoring into the balance point between the two. We do not desire to sink into the dark and murky energy of depression nor do we desire to be hyper excited for any extended state. Both create an imbalance within our minds and physiology. Any mentor I have been blessed with has held a steadiness between the 2 states. We all know what it feels like to be in the presence of depression at some point in our lives and we have all felt that hyper excited state. Sinking into the balance point between the 2 is our natural design. True happiness is a state of being, not created by some outside influence.

We need to develop a willingness to sit with our emotions and meet each moment as it arises, and in recognizing it is energetic in its expression, we can begin to change the frequency. This sounds like heavy work but it doesn’t have to be, it is a devotion to a place of liberation from suffering. We are designed to experience bliss and the depth of love we can express is so vast; it is our inherent gift.

Spiritual practices are so expansive and allow one to make a connection with source, creation, universe, god or whatever one chooses to name it. It is all the same thing. We are one world and every culture has a different language to identify this and offer many roads or approaches that can lead us there; the invitation is to take that first step.

We have been gifted a global pause. Time, which so many of us have spoke in not having enough of, is available. Observe your behaviour, perhaps even your resistance, in sinking into the silence. Notice the mind creating its drama of distraction and gently thank it for trying to navigate then return to your observation. Invite breath into your body and without judgement, simply witness the conversation of the ego. Awareness is a huge piece of the first step. When we can sit with our full spectrum of emotions and not categorize, label or judge them we are beginning to come into acceptance of who we truly are. We all slide to what has been labelled as negative emotions/thoughts such as anger, depression, scarcity, low self worth, greed, fear et but the big news is, it’s normal. And we have the ability to swing back to the other end of that scale or spectrum to love, joy, peace, abundance et.

I am in the process of creating some online programs to provide some powerful tools in navigating our way back to that balance point if it so calls you to participate. Stay tuned.
