Searching For Truth: A Blog by Sherri Smith
There are 2 theories that have become the foundation for the systems in world we exist in today…Isaac Newton’s theory of separation and Darwin’s theory of survival of the fittest or that life is a war. Science today has disproven both of these theories beyond any doubt and yet the resonance and impact of embracing these theories is still very prevalent in our society. It has created a fascination with the external world and yet the greatest power within each of us is within our internal world.
What is now understood and somehow yet to be brought to mainstream teachings is that we are connected, deeply connected, and have the wisdom within each of us to become incredibly empowered, abundant and peaceful. This was understood by the ancient cultures and is still very much practiced and embraced today, although often obscured by colonization. Our challenge in the West is holding onto this wisdom and reality amidst the distractions of being still in this noisy world on a daily basis and finding a group or space to find the presence and connection.
Adopting a stillness in our life, a place of sanctuary and embodiment allows us to access this greater way of being. Meditation is gaining momentum, however, approaches to meditation may not always be understood. Any practice that can bring us back to our bodies and out of our minds is empowering; eastern medicine incorporates a daily practice of yoga, QiGong, Tai Chi and more. Breath can immediately bring us there, so learning a portable breath practice is a powerful asset to your daily practice. Being in nature in a quiet place and simply witness the rhythm imprints into our physiology and returns us towards balance. The body has a language that is quiet, yet intuitive and we are often missing out on these signals from our busyness.
We have a false sense of separation, and finding a tribe or group that you can regularly meet with and create a healing circle is a tremendous benefit. Loneliness kills and connection heals; although we are more connected today with electronics, our depth of intimacy within those bonds is painfully fragmented. When intention is set, whether we are in the giving or receiving state, our brainwaves synchronize and we move away from self focus to a grander power. At our truest essence we are love and a balance of the masculine and feminine (words used to described the qualities of each, not the physical). With group or like-minded communities, we can great an ecstatic oneness to fast track us to healing of the mind, the body or the emotions. Shamanic journeying is a beautiful way to access this wisdom and healing. Fasting and psychedelics are also used in many traditions as a means to access deep wisdoms. It is all in returning to our sensory body, and opening the gateway to the universal energy field and in that space, releasing that which is impeding our growth or health.
It is a deep desire of mine to find a space to open to community and implement these practices of connection, deep connection well beyond our physical bodies and ego and into our greatness. Being wrapped in the quiet of nature can bring about so much balance and healing and has been an anchor for many to return to that peaceful and conscious state. Explore what can be brought into your life to embrace unity, community and support.
